Remember to remove the silver skin
Just a small suggestion, remove the silver skin off the muscle. Makes for more tender morsels. With a sharp knife, it's easy. Remove before slice and dice.
Idk what green corn is but this morning I made some heavenly cream corn
They had to wash out that white blood first! No kidding, lol
me like
Am I missing something? You said "green" corn, which I assumed meant not fully ripe. Does "green" here mean simply fresh?
I love venison. I can usually kill about 8 deer a season and eat almost year round on that alone. You should do an episode on how the natives hunted and cooked wild turkey.
❤ what book were you reading from?
OMG, I'm glad they left that bit in about the piece of corn on the camera lens! HAHAHA!!!
I know it isn't much but I went and bought the playing cards on your website. I truly support the things you are doing!
Huh, No one actually metinoed at :33 at the start when the casual mountain lion comes in and seems to start on the crew from the top left of screen (looks in left to right a tad then going right to left). And no probably not a dog, walks like a cat.
There is the possibility that this dish could be used without additional water, as ceramic does not like rapid heat changes, and on a slower fire, if you cook vegetables and meat together, it would release natural water and boil in it's own juices. Plus, if it'a feast, they might find other stuff to accompany it, such as squash and mushrooms.
Wennison, i says.
Being of Native American decent, I appreciate you doing this video.
Hey! Late response but I hope maybe you get a chance to read it?
One note from the Native American world – I'm not totally sure if this would be true of the tribe in question, but for much of North America, the indigenous method of consuming corn was typically derived from that invented by the peoples of Central America – corn would be slaked ("nixtamalized") with hardwood ash and water to create hominy (also called posole) and cooked and served like so or powdered/mashed into patties and served as tortillas or tamales.
At many pow wows today, a stew like the one you made is served with ground bison or other dark meats and hominy or (among some tribes) wild rice. I understand that corn used for this purpose is often now called "flint corn" by Native Americans for its hardness, and is favored for its hard shell and thus its ease of storage.
You should get more native living historians on your channel. Good ones.
You know the party finna be lit when they bring out the venison and corn.
I've always thought, rabbit is what will save mankind from famine. They eat almost anything green. Have you made a video on rabbit. Pleas direct me to it.
Wow! I loved the reading you did. I believe there were native American tribes that accepted the white man as one of their own. I wish I had this recipe 20 years ago when my husband was deer hunting!
My only suggestion would be removing the “silver skin” seen on top of the meat when he was chopping it. Makes for a very chewy bite.
I couldn’t hardly take it seeing that beautiful deer meat being diced up and him not removing that dang silver skin!! Talk about ruining a piece of meat! That is literally like elastic and you can chew and chew but it never breaks down!!
The venison would be more tender if you slid your knife under the silver skin, and removed it from the meat!✨
This episode brought tears to my eyes and honor in my heart. Thank you!
I doubt they would have used sweet corn, more likely a flint flour corn that wasnt sweet.
John Townsend over here packing some SHMEAT.
The man was taken captive and then adopted into that tribe? That is some real Boba Fett shit right there
My tribe makes something similar to that called Pashofa. The corn is cracked and meat is cooked in clay pots with lids next to the fire. We still eat Pashofa at our Annual Gathering in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
Love the channel! I had to laugh at the intro because I have venison steaks out for supper and venison in the fridge curing for the smoker… Great videos, and very fun to watch!
5:07 and the tribal thinking communists are still trying to get rid of white blood today.
That silver skin on the meat is what gives it a gamey flavor. If the butcher stays a bit farther from the bone, to leave the silver skin with the carcass, the flavor is more like fresh beef. It's delicious and I actually prefer it over store bought beef.
Gotta remove that silver skin first.
One of us!
One of us!
Venison and corn venison and corn
My man actually has a time machine lol
Wow. Couldn’t even be white in the 18th century as we brought the world out of famine, disparity, and ignorance. Nothing has changed in the last 300 years.
What if you sourced and grew historically accurate corn? It did use to be wild, so you might be able to set and forget a few little patches
Your channel is amazing on so many levels.
I love this show. But remove that silver skin
everyone i know hates gamey meat but its my favorite taste. maybe im wierd.
My wife is Native American, and I absolutely love your videos about native culture.
You really going to leave all the silver skin on it? 🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️
